For 5+ years now, I have been working as Global Process Manager for Product Compliance at Hilti Corporation in Schaan, Liechtenstein.
In this capacity, I am leading key Product (and partly Corporate) Compliance initiatives across all Hilti Business Units and across all Market Organizations.
And I am managing and aligning a cross-functional team of Product Compliance, Approvals, and Quality specialists, while leveraging their strengths.
Here are some of the achievements that I would like to highlight:
Substantially reduced the number and the magnitude of PRC-related incidents with market surveillance or customs authorities, translating to annual savings on the order of several FTE.
Substantially reduced the average time to adequately answer customer enquiries, translating to annual savings of around 0.5 FTE.
Anchored Product Compliance- and Sustainability-related tasks in product development processes (including Substances of Concern, Life Cycle Assessments, Recycled Content, Recyclability, Sustainable Packaging).
Professionalized and expanded Hilti's engagement in EU and US industrial associations, in line with strategic company goals.
Co-developed and implemented a global strategy for handling Product Compliance across Hilti sales regions, scaled up in the meantime to include 7 FTE. The image to the right stems from my 3-month stay in the Latin America sales region, where I had the opportunity to visit several important construction sites, including a new large-scale refinery in Tula, Mexico.
My academic background is in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, and you can see more details in my LinkedIn and Google Scholar profiles.
Before transitioning to the Legal & Compliance area, I first joined Hilti as a Technical Project Manager for Materials & Manufacturing topics.
In this capacity, I led interdisciplinary R&D project teams, with a focus on implementing additive manufacturing (AM), Design for AM, and multiphysics simulation and optimization tools into product development and industrial manufacturing processes.
And I established strategic research collaborations between external research partners and internal Business Units.
During my PhD in partnership with Siemens Energy, I developed a new turbine blade alloy withstanding higher temperatures, thus reducing specific fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by around 3%. In the image to the right, you can see (a younger) me next to a turbine disc + blades assembly at the Science Museum in London.
As the saying goes, "the only constant is change", and this has surely applied to my life.
In chronological order, I have lived for extended periods of time in: Romania, Germany, Taiwan, Chile, the United Kingdom, Japan, Switzerland (and Liechtenstein), Panama, and Mexico.
I can confidently work and consult in German, English, Spanish, and Romanian.
And I can fairly confidently speak (and especially read) French and Italian.
I am proficient in a range of platforms and tools for project and/or process management, including:
MS Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Copilot Studio)
Atlassian Platform (Jira, Confluence, Trello)
SAP Signavio
Siemens Polarion
Most of my personal time is spent with my lovely family (including our 2 small dogs), and we are always keen to travel and to discover new cultures. You can see a representative image to the right, while we were visiting the famous "Alley of the Kiss" in the wonderful city of Guanajuato, Mexico.
Furthermore, I very much enjoy hiking, road cycling, swimming, and ski touring around the Alps.
When time still allows it, I delve into DIY projects including 3D printing, lasering, CNC, and home robotics.
